Hi, HeyGen team!
I am writing to request the reinstatement or optimization of the recently deprecated plain "Chinese" voice cloning label in the Video Translation feature. Previously, the original "Chinese" label provided the highest quality results because it perfectly cloned the original speaker's unique voice characteristics—such as preserving a Korean speaker's distinct tone—while simultaneously delivering a highly natural Mandarin output. Following the recent update, the current default "Mandarin" cloning option fails to match the high level of voice similarity that the old version possessed. Meanwhile, switching to the "Chinese (Mandarin, Simplified) + Starfish" engine uses a preset voice model that completely erases the original speaker's identity. I strongly encourage the development team to bring back the previous "Chinese" voice cloning model or upgrade the current Mandarin cloning algorithm so that users no longer have to compromise between naturalness and original voice similarity.
