Hey all — posting this in case others using the API or an MCP integration have hit the same wall, and because I think there's a feature request buried in here that would help more than just my use case.

 I generate avatar videos in bulk through the Video Generation API (via an MCP integration with Claude). Once a video's done, I open it in AI Studio to add a custom caption style and background music, then hit "Generate" to finalize.

 The video_id stays the same after that edit, and the in-app player/share page correctly shows the updated version. But calling 

 afterward — whether through the raw API or through MCP tools wrapping it — still returns the 

 never changes between calls, even though the signed 

 from this endpoint, but populated from the video-list endpoint for the same exact video — which suggests the two surfaces are reading from different backend data entirely.

I also checked whether the AI Studio edit might be tracked as a separate object (lipsync job, video translation job) — both came back empty for this video, so it's not that either.

 once you've made any edit in AI Studio, there's no programmatic way to retrieve the finished asset. You can preview/download it fine in the browser, but the API/MCP path only ever returns the version from before you touched it in AI Studio.

A field or endpoint that reliably returns the 

 rendered file for a video_id, post-AI-Studio-revision — e.g., a working "Get Sharable Video URL" call, or a webhook fired when a "New Revision" is submitted.

Or at minimum, documentation that explains how (or whether) AI Studio revisions are supposed to show up in the REST API video object, since right now it looks like the two systems just don't share a data path.

Alternative that would sidestep this entirely:

 expose template-based generation through the API/MCP. The docs reference "Generate Video from Template" / "Retrieve Template Details" endpoints (template_id, scenes, variables), but neither the MCP tools nor the API calls I have access to include anything like 

 — only generation from a script + avatar/voice directly.

If a template could be built once in the UI — caption style and music already baked in — and then called via API/MCP with 

generate_video_from_template(template_id, variables)

, the output would come out finished on the 

 generation. No separate manual AI Studio pass needed, so the stale-URL issue above never comes into play in the first place. Seems like this would help anyone generating at volume via API who wants consistent, on-brand output without a manual finishing step every time.

Happy to share video_ids, exact request/response payloads, or a screen recording if it helps with reproducing this. Curious if anyone else has run into this or found a workaround I'm missing.

MCP/API can't retrieve a video after it's edited in AI Studio (and a template-based alternative that would sidestep the whole issue)
