 We used HeyGen, ElevenLabs, and Claude to build an ecosystem around the most avoided topic in human existence — death. A death doula's philosophy. A product that captures your loved ones' life force before it fades. And the proof: a man who died in 1992 whose grandchildren can now talk to him. This week, his son and grandchild sit down with his avatar for the first time.

Here's something uncomfortable: you're going to die.

Not eventually. Not in theory. You — the person reading this — will one day stop being here. So will your mother. Your father. Your children.

And here's the thing nobody says out loud: the less we talk about that, the more afraid of it we become. And the more afraid of death we are, the less fully we live.

That's the paradox at the heart of everything we've built.

Three connected projects. One philosophy.

Shoji means life-and-death in Japanese. One word. Not two.

Adinda Hahn is a death doula. She walked her own father to his chosen death. Held his hand through every conversation, every joke, every tear. And it didn't destroy her — it cracked her life wide open.

Her philosophy: death is not the enemy. Numbness is. That six-out-of-ten life you've settled into — the comfortable job, the "nothing's wrong" relationship, the endless scrolling instead of searching — that's the real threat. Not the ending.

 When you stop running from the end, you start running toward the life that's been waiting for you.

Your children's children don't care what you achieved. They want to see your life force. Your laugh. How you told a story. How are you?

Here's how it works: you send a link to someone you love. They open it on their phone. A warm AI avatar appears and just talks to them — about their childhood, their love stories, the moments that shaped them. No app. No account. No tech skills. They just have to be themselves. Because that IS the legacy.

Everything is captured. Everything is preserved. Future generations can watch, listen, and even have a conversation with the avatar.

This is where it stops being theoretical.

Tony Factor died in 1992. He was fifty-two years old. Loud, funny, stubborn, brilliant, and full of love, he didn't always know how to show. He built a retail empire from nothing — the Discount King of South Africa. He fought cancer publicly, stubbornly, with a grin. At his farewell banquet, he had no pulse. He attended anyway.

He left behind five children. Grandchildren who never met him.

His eldest son, Kevin, used AI to clone Tony's voice from old video footage. His portrait was animated from photographs taken in the 1980s. A knowledge base was built from family stories, newspaper clippings, and decades of memories.

And now — for the first time in over thirty years — Tony Factor's grandchildren can sit down and talk to their grandfather. They can ask him anything. He answers in his own voice.

"If talking about death helps people live a bit more fully... then you've got my blessing. Now go on. Do it your way."

A man who's been gone thirty-two years. Endorsing the work. In his own voice.

Daniel — Tony's son — and his child Jordy, Tony's grandchild, are sitting down this week for their first Legacy Conversation with Tony's avatar.

Daniel was 3 years old when Tony passed. He was 52 years old.

This will be the first time Tony's grandchild hears their grandfather speak directly to them. 

The first time, they can ask a question and hear Tony answer.

This is not a demo. This is a real family, having a real conversation with someone they lost, using technology that didn't exist when he died.

We're documenting the entire process — the preparation, the conversation, the reactions — as part of the ongoing project.
