I started experimenting with HeyGen a month ago, just before they pushed motion into Unlimited avatars. For context, I am trying to use this creatively to make a satire news show with realistic generated characters. The specific character I struggle with is a male news anchor (photo attached) that does a straight news read, stern look, serious tone, deadpan delivery.

I tried v4 and unlimited and got a couple of great generations using unlimited. Then motion was added to unlimited and I couldn't get a solid output. I was hoping that I would find better results with the return of Legacy mode, but the lip sync is pretty terrible. Obviously a completely different speech model than unlimited with motion.

UL with motion or v4 has much better lip sync, but the motion is all over the place (mistimed hand gestures, overly animated facial expressions, etc.). I try prompting v4 for emotionless delivery using various methods, but it produces little change in the output.

Am I missing something on this platform? Are there some characters that just won't work. Should I see different results when generating using v4 image-to-video vs. an avatar trained from several images?

I am just putting this out there to see if anyone has had similar experiences with specific people/characters just not working on this platform. Or if there's a secret sauce to toning down the motion into a more natural and usable state.
