I’m a solo user on the Creator plan and recently purchased additional generative credits for the Avatar IV photo to text feature. While the purchase process noted it was a subscription, after multiple checks, I was disappointed to find no clear option to unsubscribe from these credits in my billing account settings.  I suppose I'll have to contact support to cancel, which feels unnecessarily cumbersome and as far as I'm concerned should have been noted during the purchase process.

Subscription models must comply with consumer protection laws, such as:

FTC’s Restoring Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act (ROSCA): This federal law requires clear disclosure of subscription terms before purchase and a simple way to cancel recurring charges, ensuring transparency for consumers.

California’s Automatic Renewal Law (Business and Professions Code Section 17600 et seq.): This state law mandates clear auto-renewal terms, affirmative consent for recurring charges, and an easy cancellation method, like a self-service option or clear contact point.

While HeyGen discloses the subscription nature, a self-service cancellation option in the account interface would make the process more user-friendly and align with these standards. I believe HeyGen is incorporated in LA, Cali right?

As a single user, I find Avatar IV valuable but I can’t justify the monthly recurring cost for my usage, as I'm sometimes occupied with other tasks and won't be using it full time. I run an online shoe store and creating video shorts for marketing is just one small thing among many. 

There are also other features I wish I had access to but upgrading to the Team plan for those features, which are exclusive to higher tiers, isn’t practical for me as an individual, due to the significant cost increase ($39/seat/month or $30/seat per month annually, minimum 2 seats). Other AI tools I use offer one-time or pay-per-use options, which better suit my needs as a small business owner and I am certain there are others here that feel the same way. 

I’d like to suggest a more flexible model for solo users, such as one-time credit purchases or pay-per-use add-ons, to access features like Avatar IV without committing to recurring charges or upgrading to plans designed for teams. This would make HeyGen more accessible for individuals like me who value specific features but don’t need full-tier upgrades.

I’m curious if other community members, especially solo users, share similar experiences with the subscription model or have ideas for improvement. Let’s discuss how HeyGen can better support single users while maintaining its innovative features!
