How to get started

First, open ChatGPT on OpenAI’s platform. 

Once on the platform, you can either add a prompt in the main ChatGPT prompt box or better yet use the HeyGen GPT.  

To access it, click on ‘Explore GPTs’ and then search for HeyGen.

Start by entering your prompt—this could be anything from a product introduction to a tutorial outline. ChatGPT will generate a draft script based on your instructions.

The more specific you can be in your prompt, the better. Here’s an example prompt for an e-learning company looking to create a script using HeyGen that is detailed, on-brand, and maintains a conversational tone:

Prompt:

We need a script for our new course introduction video that will be created in HeyGen. The script should reflect our brand's friendly and supportive voice, appealing to both new and returning learners. It should begin with a warm welcome, highlighting the ease and flexibility of our online learning environment.

Details to Include:

1. A brief overview of the course content and its relevance in today's job market.
2. Clear instructions on how to navigate through the course modules and resources.
3. Information about community features such as forums and group discussions where learners can engage with peers and instructors.
4. A motivational closing that encourages learners to take charge of their learning journey and assures them of ongoing support from our team.

Tone: The tone should be conversational and approachable, using direct language and avoiding jargon. It should be encouraging and empowering, making learners feel confident about their decision to invest in their education with us.

Brand Consistency: The script must align with our brand values of inclusivity and empowerment. Ensure it reflects our commitment to providing accessible, high-quality education. Use phrases and keywords that resonate with our brand, like "transformative learning experiences" or "community-driven education."

Audience: The primary audience for this course introduction video is adults who are looking to upskill or reskill to advance their careers. They value practical, clear, and actionable learning content.

Adjust and tailor the script

Once ChatGPT provides a draft, you can make any adjustments you need to tailor it to your audience.

For example, you may want to adjust the voice and tone, various facts and figures, and more. Don’t hold back, and ask ChatGPT for exactly what you want to see.

Importing your script into HeyGen

After refining your script, it’s time to bring it to HeyGen. Copy the text from ChatGPT, then paste it into HeyGen’s script editor.

This integration makes it easy to go from a great idea to a polished video in just a few clicks!

Final video previews

Finally, give your video a preview to make sure your script is perfect.

Hit the ‘Preview’ button to review your video. If any adjustments need to be made, click on the script box for any section of the video and make the edits you need.
