What is the Product Placement feature?

The Product Placement tool lets you combine a product image with a HeyGen avatar to create a realistic promotional video in minutes.

You simply upload your product, choose an avatar, and generate a video where the avatar presents or holds the product naturally.

You can create your video using two different models:

Avatar IV is best for quick, single-scene videos that feel natural and realistic.

Veo 3.1 is ideal when you want more creative control with multiple scenes and cinematic storytelling.

Use Avatar IV when speed and simplicity matter most. Choose Veo 3.1 when you want to experiment with storytelling and visual depth.

Using Product Placement

Start by opening the Product Placement app inside HeyGen. Navigate to Apps, click See All, and select Product Placement from the list. This will open the workspace where you can upload your product image, choose an avatar, and begin creating your product placement video.

Next, add the product you want your avatar to present.

You can upload your own product image and choose an avatar from your library. If you want to experiment first, HeyGen also provides sample products and avatars you can select instantly.

Tip: The tool works best with small or handheld products like cosmetics, gadgets, or packaged items. Larger objects like desks or furniture may appear scaled down so they fit naturally in the avatar’s hand.

Once you’ve selected your product and avatar, click Generate Combined Images.

HeyGen will create several variations showing the avatar holding or interacting with your product.

Image generation can take up to 60 seconds. You can close the window and return later while the images continue generating in the background.

After generation is complete, you’ll see four combined image options.

Pick the one that best represents how you want the product to appear in the final video. Once selected, click Next: Add a script to continue.

Choose how your video will be generated

At this point you’ll choose the model that will power your video. Each one supports a different style of production.

Option 1: create a fast product video with avatar IV

Avatar IV is designed for fast, realistic avatar videos using a single scene. It’s perfect for quick product highlights, ads, or social clips.

Write your script

You can:

Write your own script

Click Surprise Me to generate a randomized script automatically

Your script can exceed 2,520 characters, but the final video must remain under 180 seconds to generate successfully.

You can choose how the avatar speaks your script.

Options include:

Selecting a voice from the HeyGen Voice Library

Using one of your custom voices

Recording or uploading an audio file

Connecting third-party voice tools like ElevenLabs or LMNT

If you upload or record audio, you can enable Voice Mirroring. This allows HeyGen to match the style, emotion, and tone of your recording for more natural delivery.

You can also guide how the avatar moves during the video.

Simply describe the gestures or expressions you want, such as:

Smiling while introducing the product

Holding the item closer to the camera

Nodding during key points

HeyGen will generate suggested motion prompts based on your description. You can refresh the suggestions if needed.

If you leave this field blank, HeyGen automatically applies natural movements that match your script.

Finally, select your preferred resolution, then click Generate Video to start production.

Option 2: create multi-scene storytelling with Veo 3.1

If you want more creative control and cinematic storytelling, choose Veo 3.1.

This mode allows you to build a video using multiple scenes, each with its own script and actions.

Create scenes

For each scene, you can describe:

What the avatar is doing

What the avatar says

The context of the moment

Each scene lasts 8 seconds, with a short pause before the next scene begins.

You can add up to 8 scenes total, which allows you to structure a longer narrative around your product.

Just like with Avatar IV, you can:

Select from the HeyGen Voice Library

Use custom voices

Enable Generate Voice to Match Video

Integrate external tools like ElevenLabs or LMNT

Choose a voice that matches the tone of your video.

Once your scenes and voice are ready, click Generate Video.

Each scene consumes 30 credits, and HeyGen will display a credit indicator at the bottom so you know how many scene generations remain.

Review your finished video

After generation completes, your product placement video will appear in your library.

From there you can:

Preview the result

Download the video

Share it with your team

Use it in marketing campaigns, ads, or product demos
